Welcome to my blog! I will be writing blog posts tracking my progress as a new author, talking about ways I’m promoting my book, discussing what I’m reading, and recommending books!

For now, these are going to be super short, bite-sized blog posts!

Be sure to subscribe so you can get the posts sent directly to your email!

Today is day two of being a published author! I’m excited to say the least. I made the decision (after having put this off for too long) to just go ahead and publish without much of a pre-release period. My reasoning was that if I went ahead and published my story (which was 99% finished anyway), I would break out of the perfectionist mindset I was stuck in. If I have a product to promote that will actually kick me into gear, so I will stop putting everything off!

I started the pre-release process about a month before the release. This period did not involve much promoting. I plan to do more in the pre-release period for the next book, though. I’m basically easing myself into it. I’m not saying that’s a good or bad idea. I have yet to know for sure. But that’s what I needed to do to start this process.

Once I had my book officially available for pre-order, I typed out a message in notes. The message was to send to my friends to let them know the news. Now, because I’m writing under a pen name, that meant, at least for me, that I didn’t send this message to everyone I knew and didn’t post about it on my personal social media. I do not yet have author socials. That’s probably best advised to have before releasing the book, but I feel like right now there’s not a rush. I decided to focus on promoting the book once it was released.

I do have an author website (which you know if you’re reading this article, of course.)

Right now, I plan to do one thing a day to promote my book.

This is not necessarily new-author advice. This blog is meant more as a way to track what I’ve been doing and learn as I go. I hope you enjoy learning with me! Trial and error for the win!

Stay tuned for an article where I show you what the message was I sent to my friends and talk about the “irl” promotions I’m doing.
